The music book contains sixty-eight original
compositions with harmony accompaniment for many of the tunes. Several compositions
are also arranged for small orchestras. The book is available in printed form
or as a downloadable Adobe pdf file which the customer can print on his or
her own selectively. The printed version is recommended because it sits on
the music stand where it will allow the reader to peruse the compositions
in a leisurely fashion. I've included an introduction, an alphabetical index
of tunes, an index by musical genre, a brief explanation of the tunes and
how they should be performed, and sixteen intriguing photographs of mandolins
and mandolin players from various historical eras. Size is 8 inches by 11
inches and the length totals 194 pages. There is a lot to offer in this compilation.
I've composed tunes in a wide variety of genres, from Latin jazz and Gypsy
jazz to fiddle tunes and klezmer tunes, with a few classically sounding pieces
as well. Many of these tunes have been previously recorded and can be heard
on this website's Listen Page and the Recording Page, as well as on YouTube, ReverbNation, and other online streaming platforms such as iTunes and Amazon.com, where they can also be purchased. The Mandolin Heaven CD (2016) includes guest appearances by David Grisman
and David LaFlamme (from It's A Beautiful Day).
Prices--The printed version of the book can be purchased
for $45.
Volume II is now available as of January 27, 2021 and it can also be purchased separately as a downloadable pdf file. It contains twenty-six tunes mostly composed between 2014 and 2021.
The Adobe pdf file is available on a sliding scale of $15
to $30. Pay what you can for the downloadable version.
